Kay Flynn began volunteering with Catholic Community Services around 2015. Her generosity has touched many CCS programs, including Mission Benedict, St. Joseph Family Shelter, Fostering Hope Initiative, Rainbow Lodge Respite Center and Father Taaffe Homes. Kay recalls, “My very first donation almost 10 years ago was to the young moms and their babies of the Father Taaffe Homes.”

Kay first heard about Father Taaffe Homes through a member of the crochet and knitting group that she belonged to called the Sassy Stitchers. Kay’s passion is crocheting and creating things that will be useful for others. One of the group’s twelve members shared information about the Father Taaffe Homes and the group decided to make a donation.

Kay’s favorite volunteer memory was meeting CCS Volunteer Coordinator Heidi Frederick for the first time. “When I delivered all the donations to Heidi Frederick at the CCS office on Portland Road,” Kay says, “I clearly remember how warmly I was greeted and how excited Heidi was to look at every single item we had to donate.  We all felt so appreciated and knew this was the program we wanted to continue to give to.” The donations made by the Sassy Stitchers were put into Christmas stockings for the moms and babies being served at Father Taaffe Homes.

Kay believes that volunteering for and donating to CCS helps give her life purpose. “CCS is an organization that invites and supports anyone in need to become a better person,” says Kay.  “They are totally inclusive of anyone needing services. I believe CCS inspires people to do better and helps them find the resources to accomplish their dreams.”

Thank you, Kay, for your dedication and generous service to CCS and the community.
