CCS staff and programs are grateful for the tremendous support and contribution student volunteers make to those we serve.
During the 2023-24 school year, a group of 732 individuals including students from Blanchet School & Queen of Peace Elementary School in Salem, Regis High School in Stayton, Chesterton High School in Mt. Angel, the Silverton Community Transition Program, along with their parents, family, friends, teachers and school administrators gave a total of 2,843 volunteer hours. These events and projects have included:
- Spending time with residents from our many group homes
- Organizing drives to gather food, clothing, shoes, books and other items
- Christmas toy drives
- Holiday food box drives
- Singing, ushering and working the registration table at our Annual Fundraising Luncheon
- Creating plans to fundraise at their schools
- Cleaning and organizing the grounds and buildings at Queen of Angels Monastery, St. Joseph Family Shelter and Mission Benedict food and clothing pantry in Mt. Angel
- Joining in a special field day for residents of St. Joseph Family Shelter
The sense of fulfillment, hope and encouragement can be seen by those who receive these beautiful donations and the time given by the students. One never knows how an act of generosity and kindness may lead a person to grow and succeed. These students are a valued part of that process with their generous gifts and time. Thank you to all our student volunteers!
