Before April Trejo Fuentes joined the Fostering Hope Initiative (FHI) team, she was a first-generation college student at Oregon State University, where she completed her degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. Receiving higher education meant a lot to her because it was her opportunity to truly pursue her interests.

“I always had a passion to help others out,” April says, “I like that my job is to provide support and advocate for people in the community to receive services and resources to address health needs.”

Though April has only been with FHI for six months, she has made an incredible impact on the team. Karime Hernandez, her former FHI supervisor, said, “April has been an amazing addition to our team and she lights up a room with her smile and enthusiasm.”

This summer, April is hoping to spend her free time out on the water, going fishing and Kayaking with her dog.
