During the spring and summer, CCS’s Fostering Hope Initiative (FHI) spearheaded distribution for the local Farmers to Families Food Box Program. FHI Community Health Workers coordinated distribution of more than 7,740 food boxes with a monetary value of more than $200,000 worth of food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
FHI Community Health Workers coordinated weekly with local schools, health and social services providers to deliver food to individuals and families experiencing hunger and food insecurity during the pandemic.
Farmers to Families is a public, private response to the COVID-19 crisis. The USDA-sponsored program allows fresh foods to be packed, transported and distributed to people in need through community and faith-based organizations like CCS.
