This year set a new record for community outreach for St. Joseph Family Shelter and Mission Benedict. The Mission collected enough food for 158 Christmas food boxes for families in need. Fr. Philip Waibel blessed the boxes before they were distributed to the families for the holidays. St. Mary Parish, Holy Family Academy, St. Luke’s School and DirectLink donated toys and gifts to the mission, and thanks to their generosity, children from 124 families were able to open a gift on Christmas morning.

On behalf of the families served, we extend our deepest gratitude to all those who made the joy of Christmas possible through Mission Benedict: the Benedictine Sisters and Oblates of Queen of Angels Monastery, DirectLink, E. College House, Holy Family Academy, Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Knights of Columbus, Kraemer’s Nursery, Marion County Dairy Women’s Association, Mt. Angel Middle School, the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division, Providence Benedictine Nursing Center, St. Mary Parish, St. Mary School, and all who volunteered and donated food, funds and toys.
