On December 2, CCS celebrated our 80th Anniversary with a special mass at St. Edward Catholic Church in Keizer. Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Kenneth Steiner was a main celebrant for the Mass along with concelebrants Rev. Monsignor Richard Hunegar, Fr. Tim Mockaitis, Fr. Philip Waibel, Fr. Gary Zerr and Deacon Michael O’Connor.
St. Edward’s Knights of Columbus 4th degree Honor Guard led a special presentation of gifts with symbols representing the ministries of CCS. Sister Dorothy Jean Beyer, OSB, and Sister Jane Hibbard, SNJM, presented a statue of St. Joseph to represent those we serve through St. Joseph Family Shelter, Mission Benedict and Casa Adele. Long-time Father Taaffe supporters Jack and Delores Gander presented a baby blanket to represent the young mothers and babies we serve. Framed photos were presented to represent the Foster Families and those we serve who experience disabilities. CCS Board Member Judge Channing Bennett presented gifts on behalf of our foster program and Bishop’s Circle General Chair Jim Monaghan and his wife, Lorna presented gifts for those we serve who experience IDD.
