Catholic Community Services, St. Mary Parish and the Benedictine Sisters of Mt. Angel will be hosting the 14th Annual St. Joseph the Worker Fundraising dinner, and all are welcome. The dinner will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 5 p.m. at the St. Mary Parish Center in Mt. Angel.

registerAll funds raised at the dinner will help sustain St. Joseph the Shelter, Mission Benedict and Casa Adele. These vital ministries provide clothing, housing and food for families in crisis and those in need in our community. In 2017, Mission Benedict served approximately 2,000 children and adults and provided food for 150 families for their Christmas day meals.

“Our goal this year is to raise $60,000 in order to meet the ever-growing need for these services,” said Sr. Jane Hibbard, pastoral administrator of Queen of Angels Monastery.

The event will feature wine and hors d’ouevres, dinner, live music, a raffle drawing and an inspiring one-hour program. If you would like to attend the dinner, tickets can be purchased at the St. Mary Parish Office, the Benedictine Sisters office or at the St. Joseph Shelter in Mt. Angel. You can also purchase tickets online. If you would like to host a table, be an event sponsor, or have questions, please contact Sr. Dorothy Jean Beyer at (503) 991-9299 or [email protected].

About St. Joseph Shelter, Casa Adele and Mission Benedict: The Benedictine Sisters of Mt. Angel established St. Joseph Shelter in 1988. The Shelter is a ministry of hospitality in response to the Gospel message of caring for those in need and honoring St. Benedict’s instruction to welcome all as Christ. The Shelter and its companion programs, Mission Benedict and Casa Adele witness to the dignity of each person by providing meals, housing, clothing, advocacy, referrals, emergency assistance and a supportive community. Following 30 years of loving care and service to homeless families and individuals in the Mt. Angel community, the Benedictine Sisters realized they could no longer sustain this vital ministry on their own. After exhaustive financial exploration, community research, and a year of management partnership, the Sisters asked Catholic Community Services to assume responsibility for St. Joseph Shelter operations beginning in July 2017. The programs are now a collaborative ministry sustained by CCS, the Benedictine Sisters of Mt. Angel, St. Mary Parish, Mt. Angel Abbey and many generous donors and volunteers.
