In 2016, the Catholic Community Services Foundation launched a capital campaign to build a new apartment complex to offer both affordable housing and wrap-around services for young families in crisis. The St. Monica Apartments are a continuation of the vision and legacy of the late, much loved Reverend Monsignor Charles Taaffe.

A dedicated campaign committee including: Richard Kreitzberg, Glenda Anderson, Gladys Blum, Norma Jean Fordyce, Rosemarie Frey, Dave Hafner, Lynda Harrington, Marypat Hill, Cathy Jarman, Keith Kieres, Kevin Monaghan, and Eileen Virden has brought the campaign to a successful conclusion. Ground breaking is scheduled to take place on April 1.

On behalf of the families we serve, we also extend our deep gratitude to the donors and funders who helped make this vision a reality. Foundation partners include:

The Salem Foundation – Richard and Joanna Kreitzberg Fund
The Larry and Jeanette Epping Family Foundation
Meyer Memorial Trust
City of Salem – Department of Housing and Urban Development
Spirit Mountain Community Fund
Collins Foundation
An Anonymous Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation
Sylvia Linington Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation
E. Henry Wemme Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation
Kaiser Permanente Community Fund at Northwest Health Foundation

Partner level donors and foundations will receive on-site recognition. Additional opportunities are still available to help fund the playground area. For information, contact [email protected].
