In 2018, 60 pregnant and parenting young women and teens received the support they needed to protect and nurture their babies. This reflects the continued commitment of our community of donors who sustain the work that Father Taaffe began more than 40 years ago. His compassion is still felt by the families served, past and present. Lindsey, a former Father Taaffe mom, recently shared her story with us.
Father Taaffe Homes program services range from providing a safe, stable, nurturing home at St. Brigid, to helping the young moms access pre-natal care and parenting classes in the community. In 2018, many served by the program received diplomas, earned their GED or completed trade school and are now employed. Some have reunited with family, and some have moved on to live at the new St. Monica Apartments, where they live more independently but can still access wrap around services and supports to meet their babies’ needs during the critical early months and years.
Since Fr. Taaffe asked CCS to take over the program, we have expanded our capacity to serve young moms in crisis through the help of many loyal donors. We have also added neighborhood-based pregnancy support services through the Fostering Hope Initiative. Together, these services and supports change lives.
