Catholic Community Services (CCS) and the Benedictine Sisters of Mount Angel have had a long-standing partnership. With the help of funds from major donors, CCS formally purchased Queen of Angels Monastery in Mount Angel in December of 2023. CCS is in the process of transitioning three of our programs to Queen of Angels Monastery: Saint Joseph Family Shelter, Mission Benedict, and Father Taaffe Homes. The peaceful monastery grounds and quiet neighborhood will provide a tranquil, therapeutic sanctuary for the families and individuals we serve.
This significant expansion of space will further strengthen these programs, ensuring that we continue to meet the evolving needs of vulnerable families while sustaining the legacy of the Benedictine Sisters through faith, hope and kinship. As CCS embarks on a new and exciting chapter at the monastery, many volunteer service opportunities will become available. CCS has forged a partnership with Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) Northwest and is actively seeking Flex JVs (part-time and full-time volunteers) for the coming year. Volunteers can be high school or college seniors considering a gap year or local service opportunity, or they can be older adults who have the ability to commit to a regular schedule of helping at the homes. You may be eligible for a monthly living stipend. You might also qualify for an education award of up to $7,000 for yourself or a member of your family depending on your commitment level.
