We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Lori Simpson who has just celebrated her 25th anniversary with Catholic Community Services (CCS). Prior to working at CCS, Lori worked for St. Vincent de Paul in Northeast Portland for three years. The long commute from Keizer to Portland while raising a young son led her to a Job Developer position at CCS. She was hired on 9/9/99 and the rest is history!
Throughout her time with CCS, Lori has held various positions, each deepening her commitment to the mission. Lori has been the Chief Quality Officer at CCS for about two years. “I love my Quality/IT/Reception team!” Lori says. “They are smart, thoughtful, and very dedicated individuals! I also love being a part of the Executive Leadership Team. We all know that our jobs are hard and that making tough decisions comes with the territory, so we support one another each and every day! My ultimate favorite part of my job is that I get to play a role in the good that CCS does each and every day in our communities!”
For Lori, Catholic Community Services is more than a workplace—it’s a second family, providing support through triumphs, tragedies, and everything in between. CCS has given her opportunities she never imagined, such as earning her master’s degree, gaining Quality certification, testifying before the legislature, and forging lifelong friendships. She also receives support and inspiration from the role models in her life. “I am blessed to have so many role models! I have experienced resilience from my sons, Devon and Alex; I know nothing but unconditional love and support from my parents, Rick and Susan Cox (both regularly seen supporting CCS events); and my friend and former CCS Director, Debby Davis, reminds me that I am strong and capable every chance she gets!”
Known for her love of all things pink, glittery, and sparkly, Lori brings a contagious enthusiasm to work every day. Her advice? “Let people know that you care and are up to tackle any challenge they may have for you. Be useful, be friendly, be open, be compassionate, be an exceptional listener, be fair, and be a loving person.” Lori says her favorite quote is “No Day But Today” from the Broadway musical Rent. It reminds her to always try, and not wait until tomorrow to do something that you can do today.
Thank you, Lori, for your remarkable dedication and 25 years of service!
